Riverside Beat Priority Update |
||
|
Good morning everyone,
One of our priorities in this quarter was that of focusing on offences relating to thefts from motor vehicles.
Please see the following May update in relation to this:
Similar to our other priority areas, we have seen a significant reduction in thefts from motor vehicles this month. Regular patrols have been carried out, with a particular focus on multi-storey car parks known for previous incidents.
A key development has been the change in ownership at St Nicholas Circle car park, where new security measures are now in place. We maintain daily contact with on-site security staff, and as a result, this previously high-demand location has seen a notable decrease in reports. There has also been a visible drop in individuals loitering in the area without legitimate reason, which can be attributed to increased officer presence and ongoing engagement activity.
During these engagements, officers continue to share practical crime prevention advice with the public. This includes reminding motorists not to leave valuables inside their vehicles, particularly where they can be seen. Where secure parking is not available, drivers are encouraged to use well-lit areas and locations covered by CCTV. Taking these simple steps can significantly reduce the risk of theft and improve our ability to identify and deal with offenders.
As mentioned previously, if you spot anyone acting suspicious around vehicles, especially late at night, please call us on 999 and we can send officers to find out whats going on and challenge any suspicious behaviour accordingly.
